KATHMANDU: Dhawal Shamsher Rana, General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has submitted a detailed letter to party Chair Rajendra Lingden on Thursday, raising concerns over the party’s leadership style, decision-making processes, and current political direction.
The letter highlights dissatisfaction with internal decision-making, organizational management, and the party’s role in Nepal’s national political landscape.
“There is no alternative but to correct past mistakes and move forward. If required, we should not hesitate to launch movements for the restoration of the constitutional monarchy and the eternal Hindu kingdom,” he said.
He also criticized the current constitution for failing to meet public expectations and stressed that addressing the sentiments of the Gen-Z movement may require constitutional amendments or even a rewrite.
Dr. Rana accused the party leadership of centralizing control, bypassing collective decision-making, and unilaterally removing leaders, including Vice-Chair Mukund Shyam Giri, from their responsibilities in violation of party statutes.
The letter pointed out that leadership interventions in central-to-district level conventions, arbitrary expulsions, and disciplinary actions have increased dissatisfaction and discontent within the party. Disputes in Jumla and Udayapur were cited as examples of actions that undermine legal and democratic norms.
Dr. Rana’s four key demands:
- Immediately schedule the party’s general convention,
- Revoke suspensions and expulsions conducted against party statutes,
- Reorganize an impartial election committee and observer team,
- Form a dispute resolution committee including two former party chairs.
“We are not devotees of any individual in RPP. As party workers committed to nationalism, democracy, and liberalism, institutional reform is our right,” he said.
Dr. Rana warned that failure by the party leadership to implement reforms in a timely manner could negatively impact both the credibility and survival of RPP.
