UML Statute Convention: Group discussions scheduled for today

KATHMANDU: The second Statute Convention of the CPN-UML continues today, with group discussions set to take place on the second day of the gathering, which was officially inaugurated on Friday.

According to party sources, reports from the Election Commission, Accounts Commission, and Disciplinary Commission will be presented during today’s session.

On the first day, several key documents were tabled, including the political report by party Chair KP Sharma Oli, a statute amendment proposal by Vice President Bishnu Paudel, the organizational report by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and a report from Advisory Council Chair Amrit Kumar Bohara.

A notable development expected today is the possible discussion on a 32-page dissenting opinion submitted by Standing Committee member Karna Bahadur Thapa. In his submission, Thapa raises concerns about the party’s internal structure and questions the membership status of former Vice President and former President of Nepal, Bidya Devi Bhandari.

The convention is being attended by 2,341 participants, including 2,260 representatives from across the country and 315 from the organizing committee.
