Department of Information postpones renewal of online media

KATHMANDU: The Department of Information and Broadcasting (DoIB) has announced that it will no longer be responsible for the registration and renewal of online media platforms.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the DoIB stated that the process has been suspended following recent regulatory changes. The decision comes after the government amended certain laws, transferring the authority to register online media to District Administration Offices.

Previously, the DoIB had been handling the registration and renewal of online media under the provisions of the Online Media Operation Directive, 2073.
