NRB sets today’s foreign currency exchange rates



KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has published the official foreign currency exchange rates for today (Wednesday).

The US dollar has reached a record high in the Nepali market. While the greenback continues to rise, the exchange rates for several other major currencies—including the Australian dollar, euro, and pound—have declined.

According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the buying rate for 1 US dollar today is NPR 140.19, while the selling rate is NPR 140.79. This marks the highest exchange rate for the US dollar in Nepal to date. In comparison, yesterday’s rates for the dollar stood at NPR 139.96 for buying and NPR 140.56 for selling.

Similarly, the euro is trading lower today. The buying rate for 1 euro is NPR 161.84 and the selling rate is NPR 162.53. Yesterday, the buying and selling rates were NPR 162.07 and NPR 162.77, respectively.

The British pound has also seen a slight drop. The buying rate for 1 pound is NPR 186.14 and the selling rate is NPR 186.93. In contrast, yesterday’s rates were NPR 186.23 for buying and NPR 187.03 for selling.

The Australian dollar has depreciated slightly as well. Today, its buying rate is NPR 90.55 and the selling rate is NPR 90.94, compared to yesterday’s NPR 90.70 and NPR 91.09.

The Kuwaiti dinar, however, has shown a slight increase. The buying rate for 1 Kuwaiti dinar is NPR 458.45 and the selling rate is NPR 460.41. Yesterday, these rates were NPR 458.10 and NPR 460.07, respectively.

Likewise, the Bahraini dinar is trading at a buying rate of NPR 371.84 and a selling rate of NPR 373.43. This is slightly up from yesterday’s buying rate of NPR 371.25 and selling rate of NPR 372.84.

Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that these exchange rates are subject to revision as needed. It also noted that rates offered by commercial banks may differ, and the most up-to-date exchange rates are available on the central bank’s official website.
