Meetings of nine different committees of Federal Parliament being held today



KATHMANDU: Meetings of nine different committees of the Federal Parliament are being held today.

These include several committees of the House of Representatives—namely, the Finance Committee; International Relations and Tourism Committee; Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee; and the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee. Meetings of the Women and Social Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee, Education Committee, and Health and Information Technology Committee are also scheduled for today.

In addition, the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee of the National Assembly is convening, along with the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, which functions as a joint committee of both Houses.

The Finance Committee will discuss with the proposer of an amendment to the bill to amend the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 BS. The International Relations and Tourism Committee will hold discussions with the proposer of an amendment to the Nepal Air Service Authority Bill, 2081 BS.

The Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee will deliberate on the government’s quota for the import, sale, and distribution of subsidized chemical fertilizers for farmers.

Meanwhile, the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will review its upcoming programs and address current issues.

The Infrastructure Development Committee will discuss several key topics, including the Electricity Bill, 2080 BS; the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill, 2081 BS; the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project; and other related matters. The Education Committee is scheduled to discuss the report submitted by the subcommittee on the School Education Bill.

The Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee will review the draft of its on-site monitoring report. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee will meet with the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and deliberate on the individuals recommended for parliamentary hearings.

As the next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Monday, July 7, today’s committee meetings have been strategically scheduled to advance key legislative agendas and move forward with important bills.
