Nepali Congress declares all party offices as ‘no plastic zones’

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to declare all its party offices across the country and abroad as ‘No Plastic Zones’ in an effort to reduce environmental pollution.

The initiative covers party offices from the central to ward level, including offices of sister organizations, well-wishers’ groups, and Nepali Janasamparka Samitis abroad.

The party’s central office has already issued a circular to all its subordinate bodies, instructing them to implement the decision. Krishna Prasad Paudel, Chief Secretary at the central office, said the directive aligns with the party’s commitment to addressing environmental concerns.

Earlier, on June 1, party president Sher Bahadur Deuba announced at an event organized by the party’s Department of Environment and Climate Change Affairs that the Congress would transform all its local and international offices into plastic-free zones.

The decision is part of the party’s broader policy to contribute to environmental sustainability and pollution reduction.
