166 APF personnel face action for posting photos and videos on social media



KATHMANDU: A total of 166 personnel from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal have faced disciplinary action for posting photos and videos on social media in violation of the organization’s guidelines.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesperson for the APF, the personnel shared images and videos of themselves in uniform on platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, Twitter (X), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Imo, WeChat, and others over the past two years.

The personnel involved range from police sub-inspectors to attendants. The breakdown includes 12 Deputy Inspectors, 6 Assistant Inspectors, 9 Senior Constables, 5 Constables, 10 Assistant Constables, 121 jawans, and 3 attendants.

Disciplinary measures taken include admonitions, warnings, promotion withholding, cautions, formal attention notices, and verbal reprimands. Of those penalized, 118 received admonitions.

The APF has also taken action against personnel who post negative comments on news related to the organization.

To regulate such behavior, a dedicated social media monitoring unit has been set up at the APF headquarters to oversee personnel conduct across all ranks.
