Flights resume in Taplejung after four-month hiatus

TAPLEJUNG: Air services at Suketar Airport in Taplejung have resumed today after a break of nearly four months.

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier, had halted its regular flights to Suketar since the second week of December 2024, after two of its aircraft were grounded due to technical issues.

Today, a Nepal Airlines flight arrived from Kathmandu carrying five passengers and departed with six passengers—two women and four men—according to the Suketar Civil Aviation Office.

The suspension of flights had caused significant inconvenience to domestic and international travelers, as well as to local residents, who were left without air connectivity for an extended period.

In the past, private carriers such as Sita Air and Tara Air used to operate flights to Suketar, especially during the peak tourism season. However, both airlines have ceased their services to this airport in recent years.
