Five ordinances approved by National Assembly

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly of Nepal has approved five ordinances on Wednesday.

The ordinances were passed with support from the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, which holds three seats in the Assembly. The approval was granted by a majority vote.

Among the approved ordinances are key measures aimed at promoting good governance and improving public service delivery.

These include the amendment of financial procedures and fiscal responsibility, privatization reforms, and measures to improve the economic and business environment to encourage investment. Additionally, an ordinance on cooperatives, which was issued on December 29, 2024, was also approved by both houses of parliament.

With the passage of these ordinances, it is expected that the remaining ordinances, except for the land ordinance introduced by the government just two weeks before parliament’s start, will also pass smoothly.
