Kulman Ghising says he is preparing to lead the nation, seeks support for Ujyaalo Nepal Party

KATHMANDU: Minister Kulman Ghising, who serves in the Sushila Karki-led interim government, has said he is preparing to take on the leadership of the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of a basic-level hospital in Sunapati Rural Municipality of Ramechhap, Ghising, who currently oversees three ministries including Energy, remarked that he is ready to assume national leadership.

Ghising said he registered the Ujyaalo Nepal Party with the vision of building a better Nepal and appealed for public support. “To truly brighten the country, someone like me must reach the leadership,” he said, urging people to support his party in the upcoming elections.

He argued that the next government will have a heavy workload and claimed he is the right person to lead it. “To institutionalize change, we need elections, and we must choose capable individuals,” he said.

Stating that he has already served the country well as a government employee, Ghising said the time has come for him to lead the nation. “I feel that I must take the country’s leadership in the coming days, and I need your support for that,” he said. “The entire nation needs light, and strong leadership is necessary to make that happen.”

Ghising also commented that improving only one sector is not enough unless national leadership is reformed. His appearance in Ramechhap, where he sought votes for the party from a public platform, has drawn criticism, with accusations of misusing government resources for political promotion.

During the event, Ghising openly promoted his newly formed Ujyalo Nepal Party, reiterating that he delivered electricity across the country and calling on people nationwide to elect capable individuals committed to employment, good governance and public welfare.
