No applicants for VC post at Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University even after two calls

KATHMANDU: The Vice-Chancellor (VC) position at the newly formed Sahid Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences has failed to attract a single applicant despite two vacancy announcements.

The recommendation committee formed for the VC appointment had first issued a notice from November 2 to 16. The deadline was later extended until November 21. However, no applications were received even by the extended deadline, officials said.

In response, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Mahabir Pun made a public call on Friday, urging eligible Nepali professionals to come forward.

“Even after advertising the Vice-Chancellor post twice, no one applied. Therefore, I request any patriotic Nepali son or daughter, who has served the motherland with expertise in health sciences as a professor or PhD holder, to please submit an application or contact me directly,” Minister Pun said in a public message.

The Federal Parliament had passed the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University Act, 2025, which was authenticated by President Ram Chandra Paudel on June 18.
