NPL: Lumbini Lions and Janakpur Bolts in action today



KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions and Janakpur Bolts are set to face each other today at 4:00 PM in the ongoing second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium.

Lumbini Lions, captained by Rohit Poudel, and Janakpur Bolts, featuring Arif Sheikh as their marquee player, will face each other at 4 PM at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

Both Lumbini and Janakpur remain in the race for the playoffs, Lumbini currently sit fourth on the table with 6 points from 6 matches, while Janakpur are at the bottom with only 2 points from 5 games.

If Lumbini win today, they will become the final team to secure a playoff berth. If Janakpur win, the qualification scenario will depend on the outcomes of the remaining matches and net run rates. Sudurpaschim, Kathmandu, and Biratnagar have already booked their places in the playoffs.

All matches of the second NPL season are being held at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur, with fixtures scheduled in the afternoon and evening. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has made 9,450 tickets available for each match.

The tournament features 32 matches in total, including the league stage, three playoff matches, and the final. Ticket prices for Saturdays are set at Rs 500 for general seating and Rs 1,500 for premium. For league-stage matches on other days, tickets cost Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 respectively. For playoff and post-playoff matches, general tickets are priced at Rs 1,000 and premium tickets at Rs 2,000.

Eight franchise teams are competing in this year’s NPL: Janakpur Bolts, Sudurpaschim Royals, Karnali Yaks, Pokhara Avengers, Biratnagar Kings, Chitwan Rhinos, Kathmandu Gurkhas, and Lumbini Lions.
