Jhalanath Khanal attends announcement of newly unified Nepali Communist Party

KATHMANDU: Jhalanath Khanal, a senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), attended the announcement ceremony of the newly formed Nepali Communist Party, which was created through the unification of nine leftist parties, including the CPN (Maoist Center).

Khanal, who had earlier expressed serious disagreement over the unification with the Maoist Center, held talks with CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, he also visited Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at his Khumaltar residence for further discussions.

During the meeting, Prachanda urged Khanal to join the unified party. He also held separate talks with Unified Socialist General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal regarding the same matter.
