Kisan Shrestha says Unified Socialist leaders to return to UML

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) central leader Kisan Shrestha has announced that his group will return to the CPN-UML.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Shrestha said party chairman Madhav Nepal is leaning toward unification with the Maoists, while Ghanshyam Bhusal is preparing to form a new party.

Without aligning with either faction, Shrestha said his group had decided to return to their “old home,” the UML.

“We are not entering UML; we are returning home. UML is the party where our sweat has flowed and our lives have been devoted,” he said.

Shrestha added that they are not expecting any positions upon rejoining UML. “We are open to dialogue and negotiation, but we are returning unconditionally. We need nothing, just a warm welcome and respect.”

He also extended best wishes to Madhav Nepal and Ghanshyam Bhusal in their respective paths and urged UML leadership to create a conducive environment for their return, forgetting past mistakes and misunderstandings.

“Please create an environment where we can return home unconditionally,” he requested.
