Landslide in Ilam: 34 dead, four missing



ILAM: A total of 34 people have been confirmed dead in landslides triggered by continuous rainfall across various municipalities of Ilam district. As of Sunday afternoon, four people are still reported missing.

According to Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal, post-mortem examinations have been completed for 11 of the deceased. The District Administration Office stated that detailed assessments of the damage are still underway.

The fatalities include five people in Suryodaya Municipality-1 Manebhanjyang, six in Ilam Municipality-6 Ghosh, four in Sandakpur Rural Municipality, three in Mangsebung Rural Municipality, eight in Deumai Municipality, seven in Maijogmai Rural Municipality, and one in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality.

Two people have gone missing in Sandakpur Rural Municipality, while one person each is missing in Ilam Municipality and Maijogmai Rural Municipality.
