Farmers in Baglung insure 705 livestock



BAGLUNG: A total of 705 livestock belonging to farmers affiliated with the Dairy Producers Cooperative Organization have been insured.

These insured animals belong to cooperative members from Baglung Municipality, Kathekhola Rural Municipality, and Jaimini Municipality, all of whom are affiliated with the District Cooperative Association, according to the association’s president, Deepak Gautam.

Last year, farmers paid Rs 484,500 in insurance premiums, while the state provided a subsidy of Rs 1.938 million, totaling Rs 2.422 million submitted to the Livestock Protection Sub-Committee.

Gautam informed that Rs 7.88 million has been collected under the livestock protection program in the current fiscal year.

The Association has been involved in collecting, processing, and marketing around 3,500 liters of milk daily from over 1,500 farmers across 15 milk collection cooperatives for the past 24 years.
