International Day of Charity being observed today

KATHMANDU: International Day of Charity is being observed today in various countries around the world through charitable activities held in memory of Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life to serving the poor and helpless.

This day was established in 2012 at the initiative of the United Nations. Its main objective is to support members of the community suffering from inequality, poverty, and various forms of hardship.

The UN has emphasized the importance of supporting the poor in a transparent manner, promoting youth leadership, conducting charitable activities—including responsible donations without discrimination—and generously helping those who lack food, shelter, and clothing due to poverty and climate-related challenges.
