2 killed, 2 injured as truck hits passenger vehicle in Rautahat



RAUTAHAT: Two people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a truck and an electric passenger vehicle in Rautahat on last evening.

According to the Rautahat District Police Office, the accident occurred in Mangalpur, Chandrapur Municipality-1, along the East-West Highway.

The collision took place between an electric vehicle (Bagmati Province 03-001 Ja 0452) heading from Barhathawa in Sarlahi towards Chandranigahpur and a truck (Madhesh Province 03-001 Kha 8600) coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased have been identified as Bhagiya Devi, 36, of Khairwa in Ramnagar-1, Sarlahi, who was driving the electric vehicle, and Dhirendra Thakur, 30.

Both succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Two others injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment in Chandrapur, police said.

Following the incident, police have taken the truck and its driver into custody for investigation.
