PM Oli returns from Thailand visit
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has returned home after completing his official visit to Thailand. According to a member of his secretariat, the plane carrying Prime Minister Oli and his delegation landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday afternoon.
Oli had left for Bangkok last Tuesday to attend the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
Indian PM Modi won’t attend Sagarmatha Sambaad: PM Oli
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambaad, as confirmed by Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Speaking at a press conference at Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli stated that Modi’s schedule for a visit to Europe had already been finalized, which coincides with the timing of the Sagarmatha Sambaad.
RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane taken to Rupandehi
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested Friday night following a High Court order, was flown to Rupandehi this morning in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal.
SP Ranjit Singh Rathore confirmed that Lamichhane was taken to Rupandehi on the first Yeti Airlines flight today. He will be held in the custody of the District Police Office, Rupandehi, for two days as the weekend public holidays prevent further proceedings until Monday.
Public invited to provide feedback on draft selection process for transitional justice commissions
The Committee for the Recommendation of the Names of the Chairpersons and Members of the Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission has called on the public to submit their opinions and suggestions on the proposed selection process for appointing office bearers to the two transitional justice bodies.
In a meeting held on Friday, the committee decided to seek public input on the draft document titled Selection Process for the Recommendation of the Names of the Chairpersons and Members of the Commissions, 2025.
Nepal announces squad for four-nation T20I tournament in Hong Kong
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has revealed the final squad for the Nepali national cricket team for the upcoming four-nation T20 International tournament in Hong Kong from April 9 to 13.
The 14-member squad, led by captain Rohit Poudel, also includes Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sompal Kami, Lalit Rajbanshi, Kushal Malla, Karan K.C., Bashir Ahmed, Shahab Alam, Nandan Yadav, Rijan Dhakal, Gulshan Kumar Jha, and Lokesh Bam.

Gandaki Provincial Assembly passes bill to repeal three acts amid opposition
The Gandaki Provincial Assembly on Friday passed a bill titled Bill to Repeal Some Acts with a majority vote, despite opposition from Maoist Center lawmakers and neutrality from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MPs.
The bill, introduced by Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, seeks to repeal three provincial laws: the Provincial Dairy Development Board Act 2075 BS, the Lake Conservation and Development Authority Act 2075 BS, and the Gandaki Provincial Science and Technology Academy Act 2076 BS.
Police seize over 94,000 tramadol tablets from Indian ambulance
Police have seized a large quantity of drugs being smuggled into Kathmandu from Makawanpur in an ambulance. According to Superintendent of Police Narahari Regmi, who also serves as the Information Officer at the District Police Range, Lalitpur, the drugs were intercepted during a routine check at Bhattedanda, Bagmati Rural Municipality-3.
A total of 94,080 tablets of Tramadol, a controlled pharmaceutical substance, were recovered from the ambulance bearing Indian registration number BR 05 Pa 0421.
Resident Doctors at Lumbini Medical College submit demands to Health Minister, halt services
Resident doctors at Lumbini Medical College have submitted a memorandum to Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, outlining a set of demands focused on fair remuneration, transparency in postgraduate programs, and reform in private medical college operations.
The doctors, pursuing MD, MS, and MDS programs, are demanding a monthly salary equivalent to the government’s eighth-grade level for residents in private institutions. They also called for rectification of the postgraduate program matching process, arguing that seats allocated in private colleges before the entrance examination must be honored.
Eight injured in Jajarkot earthquakes
Eight people have been injured in two earthquakes measuring 5.2 and 5.5 magnitude that struck Kuse Rural Municipality-9, Paink of Jajarkot late Friday night.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), six injuries were reported in Jajarkot and two in Rukum West, based on updates from the respective District Administration Offices and the National Emergency Operations Center.
Spokesperson Ram Bahadur KC said minor cracks have been reported in both private houses and government buildings in Jajarkot, Rukum West, and Kalikot districts.
NC leader Sharma asks former king to take people’s mandate to change regime
At a programme organized by the Nepali Congress in Dhulabari in Jhapa on Saturday, Sharma recommended that the former king, Gyanendra Shah, should contest the upcoming general elections in 2084 BS, using the Crown as his election symbol and change the system by a two-thirds majority if the former king truly believes he has public support.
“The election is scheduled for 2084. If you believe you have the people’s support, you can run with the Crown as your election symbol,” Sharma stated.
Voting completes for NBA new leadership
The voting for the election to the 27th central working committee of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) completed at 4:00 this afternoon.
Chief election Officer Senior Advocate Ramkrishna Nirala said that the voting process started at 8:00 am was completed at 4:00 this afternoon.

Thailand visit, BIMSTEC participation fruitful: PM Oli
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said his official visit to Thailand and attendance in the sixth Summit of the BIMSTEC was very successful and meaningful.
His official visit to Thailand has reached the bilateral relations to a new height, PM Oli informed the press conference organized at the VVIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return today.
Fruitful discussion was held with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on forwarding regional and multi-sectoral cooperation and collaboration in addition to bilateral trade, investment, and developments of agriculture, tourism, culture, education and human resource development, according to him. The two countries, where the Buddhist religion and philosophy are common, agreed to strengthen diplomatic relations by expanding economic and cultural activities.
Minister Bhandari stresses reducing trade loss to China
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply, Damodar Bhandari, has underlined the need of reducing trade loss to China.
In his address to the 25th annual general meeting of the Nepal Trans-Himalayan Commerce Association in the federal capital today, Minister Bhandari viewed Nepal could focus on the special products like medicinal herbs, handicrafts, agricultural items and readymade clothes for export.
“The Association can play a leading role on promotion of Nepali products. So, diversification of products and service along with quality enhancement and branding is essential,” he reminded.
Unified Socialist to protest nationwide on April 7
The Unified Socialist has announced plans to protest across the country on April 7, demanding a thorough investigation into the vandalism and arson that occurred during the Tinkune protest.
According to Prakash Jwala, head of the Central Publicity Department, the party’s various committees will organize protests at the municipal, ward, provincial, and regional levels to press for a fair investigation and legal action against those responsible for the incident.
A task force led by Central Deputy General Secretary Ram Kumar Bhattarai has been formed to gather information on the damages caused to the party.
