HoR endorses Ordinance on Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) today passed the Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081.

The proposal, tabled by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, was approved by a majority vote in the HoR.

Meanwhile, a proposal tabled by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dr. Swornim Wagle, seeking the HoR’s disapproval of the ordinance, was rejected.

In response to questions raised regarding the ordinance, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Paudel clarified that accusations of downsizing the roles of the National Planning Commission and the Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission were unfounded.

He also expressed confidence that Nepal would soon be removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. Minister Paudel assured that the government was closely monitoring developments related to the issue and that Nepal would be removed from the grey list within the given timeline.

“We are committed to removing Nepal from the grey list before the two-year deadline,” the Finance Minister said.
