Energy Minister says govt not planning to dismiss Kulman Ghising

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has clarified that the government has not taken any steps to remove Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising from his position.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Dumre Cultural Festival in Tanahun, Khadka said the government has no intention of removing any employee without valid reasons.

Khadka further highlighted the government’s commitment to recognizing contributions and ensuring accountability.

“Those who contribute to the Nepal Electricity Authority will be rewarded, and those who engage in wrongdoing will face consequences,” he said.

When questioned by the media about Ghising receiving zero marks in a recent performance evaluation, Khadka drew an analogy to student examinations.

“Just as students cannot score marks if they are absent during exams, the Ghising could not secure marks because he failed to submit its work performance report on time,” he said.

The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing speculation and public concern over the potential removal of Kulman Ghising, who is widely credited with transforming the NEA into a profitable and efficient organization.
