Eight Nepalis detained by Nepal Police after U.S. deportation flight

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have detained eight Nepalese citizens who arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday, following a U.S. deportation flight.

Initial reports indicated ten individuals were on board, but authorities have confirmed the correct number as eight.

The U.S. plane landed at approximately 10:00 am, and the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police took the individuals into custody immediately.

Police officials stated that the detainees will be interrogated regarding potential involvement in human trafficking-related offenses.

Those who were returned without proper documentation will be questioned as Nepali citizens.

The bureau is preparing to release them after the interrogation process.
