KATHMANDU: KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of the CPN-UML and Prime Minister, has expressed that collaboration with the Nepali Congress is a possibility in the future.
Oli made this statement in the political report presented at the Central Committee meeting that commenced on Sunday.
He acknowledged that attempts to collaborate between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML during the 2079 BS elections were unsuccessful due to various factors.
Following the 2079 BS elections, the UML supported the appointment of CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda as Prime Minister. Oli also reflected on this decision.
“We had proposed collaboration publicly even after the election results. Although it was not possible at that time for several reasons, the country is now facing a crisis,” he said.
“We have a history of collaborating when democracy or the nation is in trouble, and such a need may arise again in the future. Being a main competitor does not mean we should always adopt a stance of prohibition and opposition,” Oli’s report stated.
