Oli takes soft stance on Congress, criticizes Maoists, RSP and Monarchists

Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli presented a 47-page political report at the eighth central committee meeting of the party held in Chyasal on Sunday.

The report addresses the current political situation and outlines future strategies.

While Oli adopted a conciliatory tone toward coalition partner Nepali Congress, he was highly critical of the Maoist Center and monarchist forces.

Prachanda’s tells party members to disclose property and income

Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has instructed party leaders to submit their property details by February 14.

Speaking at the central committee meeting in Kathmandu on Sunday, Dahal presented a report titled “Commitment to Party Transformation and Reconstruction: Today’s Need,” urging all leaders and cadres from the central to provincial levels to mandatorily disclose their property and income details within the deadline.

Dahal criticized the KP Sharma Oli-led coalition government, stating it has begun to expose its inefficiency.

UML approves Bhim Rawal’s expulsion and suspension of two Leaders

The CPN-UML central committee, in its eighth meeting on Sunday, approved the party secretariat’s decision from December 26 to expel former vice-chair Bhim Rawal.

Following the meeting, UML publicity department head Rajendra Gautam informed the media that the expulsion of Rawal and the suspension of standing committee member Binda Pandey and central committee member Ushakiran Timalsena were unanimously endorsed.

He stated, “The meeting reviewed organizational work, political reports, and decisions made by the central secretariat and politburo after the national representative council meeting. Actions taken against party leaders were also unanimously approved.”

Chhabi Lal Joshi’s statement: Rabi and GB forged signatures to misappropriate funds

Former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi accused Gorkha Media Chairperson Gitendra Babu Rai (GB) and Managing Director Rabi Lamichhane of forging signatures through board minutes to misappropriate funds in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative embezzlement case.

The District Government Attorney’s Office registered the case at the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday, where Joshi alleged that Rabi and GB forged his signatures on meeting minutes to advance decisions while he was in the U.S.

Joshi disclosed that his refusal to invest further or mortgage his property for Gorkha Media strained relations. He claimed that even after transferring his shares and distancing himself, GB and Ravi misused his name to facilitate financial decisions.

RSP forms Constitution Refinement Suggestion Taskforce

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formed a Constitution Refinement Suggestion Taskforce to suggest constitution amendment in view the context of necessary amendments to the constitution.

The taskforce has been formed under the coordination of Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar, party’s acting spokesperson Manish Jha said.

According to him, the taskforce will hold necessary discussions in all the seven provinces and make public the party’s views after holding discussions with all the concerned partners and constitutional experts.

BP Highway reconstruction estimated at Rs 9.66 billion

The reconstruction of various sections of the BP Highway, which were damaged by landslides in the last week of September 2024, is expected to cost approximately Rs 9.66 billion.

A post-flood study reveals that a substantial amount of money will be required for the reconstruction.

According to the Divisional Road Office in Bhaktapur, this estimate covers the reconstruction of several locations along the BP Highway, from Bhakunde to Nepalthok.

Nepali team announced for U-19 Women’s World Cup

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the Nepali squad for the ACC U-19 Women’s World Cup.

A 15-member team, captained by Pooja Mahato, includes vice-captain Soni Pakhrin, along with Sana Prabin, Jyotsinka Marasini, Kusum Godar, Sabitra Dhami, Krishma Gurung, Riya Sharma, Simana KC, Sneha Mahara, Kiran Kumari Kunwar, Rachana Chaudhary, Trishna BK, Anu Kadayat, and Alisa Kumari Yadav.

Nepal earned a spot in the World Cup by winning the U-19 Asia qualifiers held last month.

Sarbendra Khanal quits UML

Sarbendra Khanal, a leader of the CPN-UML and former Nepal Police Chief, announced that he has officially quit the party.

Khanal made the announcement via a post on social media platform Facebook, stating that he is no longer affiliated with the UML or any other political party.

He clarified, “I would like to make it clear through this medium that I am not affiliated with any political party at present.”
