Bhandari says it’s unjustified to claim NC cannot hold convention in December

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Chandra Bhandari has said it is unjustified to claim that the party cannot hold its general convention in December.

In a social media post directed at the party’s establishment faction, Bhandari said it was illogical for the Nepali Congress, which has historically led national issues, to hesitate in organizing its own convention when the CPN-UML is preparing to hold its own in the same month.

“The then ruling partner UML is preparing for its general convention in Mangsir. It makes no sense for the Congress, which has led national agendas, to say it cannot hold its own convention,” Bhandari wrote on Facebook.

He stressed that the party should focus on resolving national issues facing the country, noting that “in sensitive times, experienced, responsible, and mature decisions are crucial.”

Bhandari warned that exposing internal disputes would only increase public frustration and political uncertainty, urging the Nepali Congress not to deviate from its legacy of responsibility. He also emphasized that since the proposal for a special general convention has already been tabled, it should not be obstructed.
