US hands over two Skytruck helicopters to Nepal Army



KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that Nepal and the United States have long enjoyed a trust-based, sustainable, and historic relationship.

Speaking at a ceremony on Thursday to mark the handover of two Skytruck helicopters provided by the US government to the Nepal Army, Minister Rana said the support symbolizes the lasting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

She highlighted America’s role as a reliable partner in strengthening Nepal’s democratic governance, providing humanitarian assistance, supporting disaster management, contributing to peacekeeping, and enhancing capacity development. Rana stressed that Nepal’s friendship and cooperation with the US have always been dedicated to the goals of peace, stability, and service to humanity. She also expressed gratitude to the US government and people for their continued support.

Minister Rana praised the Nepal Army for its discipline, dedication, nationalism, and unwavering commitment to world peace and security.

At the ceremony, US Ambassador Dean R. Thompson formally handed over the Sky Trucks to Foreign Minister Rana, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel. The helicopters will be used for disaster response, rescue operations, and can also serve as air ambulances.
