Maoist Centre to unite with Biplav-led Communist Party

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has decided to unite with the Netra Bikram Chand Biplav led Nepal Communist Party.

Following a four-day Standing Committee meeting in Kathmandu, the Maoist Centre announced its decision to initiate talks for party unification with Biplav’s faction.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said a dialogue committee would soon be formed to finalize the unification process.

“A decision has been made to unify with the Biplav-led party,” said Sapkota. “A negotiation team will be formed shortly to proceed.”

Meanwhile, discussions with the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN (Unified Socialist) are ongoing.

“There is already a decision regarding Biplav’s party; nothing more needs to be said,” Sapkota stated. “However, talks with the Unified Socialist are still underway, and unification does not seem immediately likely.”
