Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Nepali Doctors Association UK sign agreement for eye care collaboration



KATHMANDU: Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) and the Nepali Doctors Association UK have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the field of eye care services.

The agreement was signed on Sunday during a program marking the 40th anniversary of the Nepali Doctors Association UK. On behalf of NNJS, central member Prof. Dr. Sabina Shrestha signed the MoU, while President Sanjiv Nepali signed on behalf of the Association, according to a statement issued by NNJS.

Prof. Dr. Shrestha said the cooperation aims to develop and expand eye care services in Nepal. As part of the agreement, the Association will mobilize qualified ophthalmologists and eye health professionals willing to serve voluntarily in Nepal to help make existing programs more effective.

The Association will also coordinate the supply of necessary medical equipment and medicines for eye treatment. It has been involved in various social initiatives in Nepal, including free health camps.

Established in 1978, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh is one of Nepal’s leading non-governmental organizations, providing accessible and quality eye care services. Through its 28 eye hospitals, 224 eye care centers, and 45 district branches, NNJS serves more than three million people annually and performs over 300,000 eye surgeries each year.
