Beautification of Manimandap area nears completion

DHANUSHA: The beautification of the historic Manimandap area in Janakpurdham is nearing completion, as part of efforts to promote the city as a wedding destination.

According to Binod Yadav, Chief of the Urban Development and Building Construction Office, Janakpurdham, about 95 percent of the work—spanning around four bighas—has been completed.

The beautification is being carried out at five sites, including Manimandap, with a total investment of over Rs 189.1 million. Among these, the Manimandap project has received the largest share of funding. Once completed, it will be handed over to the Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City.

Ward Chair of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-13, Jit Bahadur Raut, said the site has been developed into an attractive venue for Hindu weddings, drawing devotees from around the world.

As part of the project, a palace-style building has been constructed with 21 rooms, including a hall that can host 70 people. Additionally, two well-equipped Dharamshalas with 24 rooms each, a wedding hall, and two pavilions have also been built.

Launched in the fiscal year 2074/75, the project is expected to be completed within this Ashad. Engineer Nirmal Kumar Yadav of Rabina Construction, the company executing the project, confirmed that the final phase of work is underway.
