PM Oli stresses equality, calls for end to caste-based discrimination

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need to eliminate caste-based discrimination by promoting equality and inclusiveness in Nepali society.

He asserted that individuals should be valued based on their actions, thoughts, and contributions—not by their caste, ethnicity, or birth.

Extending his message through social media on the occasion of the National Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Untouchability, PM Oli stated: “A mother does not give birth to a caste; she gives birth to a human. Only after a child begins to walk does society start asking about caste and clan. No caste is above humanity. Everyone’s blood is of the same color. Everyone’s tears flow from the same pain.”

He further urged that Nepal must become a society where caste and birth are no longer the criteria for judgment, but rather one that recognizes merit, integrity, and contribution.
