MYAGDI: The construction of the 21.3-megawatt Thulokhola Hydropower Project in Myagdi district has reached its final stage, with all physical infrastructure and equipment installation completed.
According to Project Manager Binod Paudel, testing of the machines installed in the powerhouse has begun.
The project, located in Kuyinemangale of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-8, is being developed by Joint Energy Limited. Paudel confirmed that all major components—including the dam, tunnel, powerhouse, and switchyard—have been completed, and turbine testing has already been conducted.
Electricity generated by the project will be supplied to the national grid, and an 8-kilometre transmission line is currently under construction for this purpose. Project officials stated that test transmission of power is scheduled for May 15.
The project has been financed through investment from Non-Resident Nepalis and other promoters, with 70 percent of the total funding provided by a consortium of banks and financial institutions led by Nepal Bank Limited. The total estimated cost of the project is approximately NPR 3.6 billion.
