NHRC calls for cooperation on investigation into Tinkune violence

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NGRC) has urged the stakeholders concerned to lend support and cooperation needed for the investigation into the Tinkune incident that took place during the demonstrations of former King’s supporters.

It has been stated that the NHRC team led by its member Manoj Duwadi met with demonstration committee coordinator Nabaraj Subedi who is said to be placed under ‘house arrest’.

The NHRC said that Subedi has been placed at his home under the police surveillance without a warrant.

NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokhrel informed that the team also took updates of individuals who have remained in police custody and visited those injured in the incident reaching various hospitals.

The constitutional human rights watchdog body has expressed its concern over the loss of lives and physical properties during the demonstrations and has taken the issues of human rights violations seriously, it is said.

Similarly, it has received further complaints as well as memorandums over the incident, the spokesperson shared.
