JSPN maintains support for government despite opposing land-related ordinance



KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSPN), led by Upendra Yadav, has decided to continue its support for the current government.

Following a three-day central committee meeting in Lalitpur, the party resolved to maintain its backing for the government led by KP Sharma Oli.

After the meeting, JSPN spokesperson Manish Suman stated that there had been no decision to withdraw support and confirmed that the party’s stance remained unchanged.

However, the meeting concluded that the government has failed in controlling corruption, ensuring good governance, advancing development, and amending the constitution.

The party also expressed disagreement over the six ordinances issued by the government in December and January. It decided to demand the withdrawal of the land-related ordinance while supporting the other five.

Additionally, the meeting extended support to the ‘No Cable Car Campaign’ in Pathibhara, Taplejung, urging the government to resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiations.

JSPN also decided to complete conventions for all local units and affiliated organizations by mid-May. Once these are concluded, the party plans to launch a 100-day public outreach campaign along the Hulaki Highway, Mid-Hill Highway, and Himalayan Highway.
