T-20 Triangular series: Nepal suffers fourth consecutive defeat



KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered its fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing women’s triangular T-20 series underway in the capital.

In the match today, Nepal lost to Thailand by 5 runs at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. With this defeat, Nepal is out of the title race.

Chasing a target of 107 runs set by Thailand, Nepal scored only 101 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Rubina Chhetri scored the highest 36 runs in 30 balls  while Kabita Joshi scored 24 runs and Roma Thapa added 19.

Meanwhile, Thipcha Putthavong took 4 wickets and Fatinna Maya took two wickets for Thailand.

Earlier, Thailand, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 106 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Chanida Suthiruang top-scored with 27 runs  and Thipathcha Puthavong scored an unbeaten 25 and Nanpat Koncharonkai contributed 19 runs.

For Nepal, Manisha Upadhyaya took 3 wickets while Pooja Mahato and Rachana Chaudhary took one wicket each.

Prior to this, Nepal had lost to the Netherlands in the first and third match and to Thailand in the second match.
