CHITWAN: A case has been filed in Chitwan against Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairperson of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who had recently been released on bail by three district courts.

The District Attorney’s Office in Chitwan registered the case against the former Home Minister on Tuesday, accusing him of illegally embezzling and defrauding funds from the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative in an organized manner.

The police had earlier submitted an investigation report recommending the filing of charges against Lamichhane and 14 others.

The investigation report suggests including Lamichhane, his business partner and former DIG of Nepal Police Chhabilal Joshi, former ASI of Nepal Police Ram Bahadur Khanal, Kumar Ramtel, and 14 others as defendants.

The complaint was filed by savers who alleged they were defrauded of over Rs 380 million.
