Kathmandu wins Bagmati Province League Football Championship



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu won the Bagmati Province League Football Championship by defeating Dolakha in the final.

The match, part of the second edition of the tournament organized by the Bagmati Province Football Association (ANFA), ended with Kathmandu’s Chitlang Football Club securing a 3-0 victory over Dolakha’s Tiger Group.

The final took place at the Piple-Campa Stadium in Hetauda-5, where Kathmandu took the lead in the 25th minute of the first half with a goal from Sujit Budhathoki.

In the second half, Budhathoki scored again in the 74th minute, and Ayush Kunwar added a third goal in the final moments of the game. Budhathoki was named the ‘Player of the Match.’

As the champions, Kathmandu received 200,000 rupees along with a shield, medals, and certificates. Dolakha, as runners-up, was awarded 100,000 rupees a shield, medals, and certificates.

Sujit Budhathoki was also named the tournament’s best player and received a cash prize of 15,000 rupees in addition to winning the ‘High Scorer’ title.

Other awards included Best Goalkeeper, which went to Chandrashekhar Shrestha from Kathmandu; Best Defender, awarded to Janak Koirala from Kathmandu; Best Midfielder, given to Bigyan Khadka from Kathmandu; Best Forward, which went to Sujan Majhi from Dolakha; and Best Coach, awarded to Rupesh Kshetri from Kathmandu.

Each individual award included a cash prize of 5,000 rupees. The tournament featured league champions from 11 of the 13 districts in the province, with Ramchehap and Rasuwa not participating as they are not affiliated with ANFA.
