South Korean Ambassador calls on Finance Minister Khanal, discusses economic cooperation



KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal held a courtesy meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Tae-Young at the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

During the meeting, Minister Khanal expressed gratitude to the Government of Korea for its continued support and highlighted the long-standing bilateral diplomatic relations between the two nations.

He also noted that the ongoing projects and programs supported by Korea were progressing satisfactorily and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to strengthening economic partnership with Korea.

Ambassador Park, recalling the 30th anniversary of bilateral cooperation between KOICA and the Government of Nepal, expressed hope for deeper coordination and collaboration in the days ahead.

He added that the Korean government plans to establish a separate visa center in Nepal to facilitate smoother employment processing for Nepali workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS).

Ambassador Park also mentioned that the Korean government, through KOICA, is advancing a plan to provide concessional loans via the Agricultural Development Bank to support entrepreneurship among Nepali returnees from Korea. He requested the Finance Ministry’s cooperation in implementing the initiative.
