Girl dies, three injured after being swept away by river in Nuwakot



TRISHULI: A girl lost her life and three other students were injured after being swept away by a flash flood in the Chilaune stream while returning home from Chilaune Basic School in Tadi Rural Municipality-2, Nuwakot, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikram Lama of Nuwakot District Police Office, four-year-old Shashikala Tamang, daughter of local resident Ram Bahadur Tamang, died on the spot after being carried away by the swollen stream around 4 p.m.

The incident occurred when four students, holding hands, attempted to cross a culvert over the stream. Chair of Tadi-2, Bachhuram Tamang, informed that Shashikala was swept nearly 100 meters downstream.

Three other students: Joyas Tamang, Jyoti Tamang, and Sushma Tamang, sustained injuries but managed to reach the riverbank. They are currently undergoing treatment at Kharanitaar Hospital, police confirmed.
