UML to hold press meet on statute convention preparations

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is set to brief the media on preparations for its upcoming statute convention through a press conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

According to the party’s Central Department of Publicity and Publication, the press meet will take place at 2 p.m. at the UML headquarters in Chyasal, with General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and other senior leaders in attendance.

The party’s second statute convention will be held from September 5 to 7 at Sunrise Hall in Godavari, Lalitpur. Wednesday’s press conference will provide updates on the convention arrangements as well as the party’s views on current political issues, the department said.

Meanwhile, the UML Secretariat is scheduled to meet on Thursday to finalize key documents for the convention. The meeting was deferred to allow Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, who returns from China on Wednesday, to participate.

According to Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, Thursday’s meeting will deliberate on three major reports: the political report, the statute amendment proposal, and the organizational report. Once endorsed by the Secretariat, these documents will be presented at the statute convention.
