Prachanda targets Janardan: Mistakes need self-criticism

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that those who defy party norms should engage in self-criticism.

Speaking to reporters after Sunday’s Standing Committee meeting at Paris Danda, he was asked whether he himself would self-criticize. Prachanda replied, “No, that’s not the issue. It’s about those who make mistakes, there was discussion in the meeting about correcting them.”

His comments come amid internal tensions with Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, who has been leading a parallel ideological struggle within the party.

In the previous Standing Committee meeting, Sharma had criticized Prachanda for making public remarks during an ongoing internal debate.

Responding to the criticism, Prachanda dismissed the open accusations as inappropriate, saying ideological differences that used to remain within closed meetings were now being aired on social media.

Highlighting this shift, Prachanda reiterated that those responsible for such breaches should self-reflect and take corrective action within the party.
