Landslides block Kaligandaki Corridor and Ridi–Wami Taksar road in Gulmi

GULMI: Continuous rainfall since last night has blocked two key roads in Gulmi district: the Kaligandaki Corridor and the Ridi–Wami Taksar road section.

According to the District Police Office, a massive landslide accompanied by large boulders occurred this afternoon at Gargare in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-1, completely obstructing the Kaligandaki Corridor.

Similarly, the Ridi–Wami Taksar road, one of the district’s main routes, has also been blocked due to a rise in water levels in the Dahare River in Satyawati Rural Municipality-6. Deputy Superintendent of Police and District Police Office Information Officer Ganga Bahadur Saru confirmed that the flooding in both the Dahare and Ledo rivers has made the road impassable.

Vehicles traveling toward Butwal via Ridi and Burtibang in Baglung have been stranded as a result of the blockage.

Police teams from Johang Khaireni and Purtighat have been deployed to help restore road access, but efforts to clear the debris are being hampered by ongoing rainfall, Saru added.

Authorities have urged travelers to avoid the affected routes and remain alert.
