NC to support govt policies with constructive feedback

KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to support the government’s newly presented policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, while offering positive and constructive feedback during parliamentary discussions.

A meeting of the NC parliamentary party, chaired by party president and parliamentary leader Sher Bahadur Deuba at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor on Saturday, endorsed the decision to second the policies and programs unveiled on Friday.

Parliamentary party chief whip Shyam Ghimire informed that the meeting resolved to urge the government to align the upcoming budget with the priorities outlined in the policies and programs.

He added that NC lawmakers would take an active role in expediting the passage of pending bills in Parliament.

The meeting also reiterated the party’s commitment to pass the School Education Bill by July 29, as per the agreement with the Nepal Teachers’ Federation.

In addition, the parliamentary party expressed sorrow over the death of a Nepali student at KIIT University in Odisha, India, and the recent incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The party called for investigations into both cases.

More than 20 lawmakers shared their views on the policies and programs as well as other contemporary political issues during the meeting.
