Press crucial for upholding republic and Constitution: Prachanda



KATHMANDU: Maoist Centre Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the critical role of the press in upholding the constitution and institutionalizing the federal democratic republic in Nepal.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Chairman Dahal expressed hope that the occasion would inspire journalists to carry out their responsibilities with fairness and accountability.

He noted that the media has significantly contributed to consolidating the achievements of Nepal’s people’s movement, which aimed at political and social transformation.

He also expressed confidence that the media would continue working towards the enforcement of constitutional and legal provisions related to human rights.

Dahal further stated that he hopes the day encourages everyone to uphold freedom of expression and press freedom as essential pillars for building a just and prosperous society.
