President Paudel attends Basanta Shrawan ritual
President Ram Chandra Paudel attended the Basanta Shrawan ritual at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square premises this morning on the occasion of Basanta Panchami.
On the occasion, President Paudel listened to a special melody at the auspicious hour of 7:55 am and received tika and Prasad offered by the priest.
There is a tradition of listening to a special melody by President from the position of the Head of the State on Basanta Panchami every year.
Taplejung cable car dispute: Govt forms talks team
The government has formed a team to engage in dialogue with stakeholders to resolve the issues arising during the construction of the cable car at Pathibhara (Mukkumlung) in Taplejung.
A press statement issued by the Home Ministry late Sunday night stated that the team will be led by Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, and will include representatives from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Ministry of Urban Development.
Ram Chandra Tiwari, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Home Ministry, urged the protesting parties to withdraw their protest programs and work together through dialogue to resolve the issues.
Pathibhara cable car dispute: Protesters demand construction halt before talks with government
The government has formed a negotiation committee to address the ongoing dispute over the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara, Taplejung.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Home Affairs established the committee under the leadership of Joint Secretary Prem Prasad Bhattarai.
It includes representatives from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Urban Development.
Remittance inflow increases by 4.1 percent in last six months
Remittance inflows have increased by 4.1 percent, reaching Rs.763.08 billion in the review period, compared to a 22.2 percent rise in the same period last year.
This information was provided by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) in its report, Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal, which covers data for the six months ending mid-January 2024/25.
In US Dollar terms, remittance inflows grew by 1.1 percent, totaling $5.58 billion in the review period, a decrease from last year’s 19.5 percent growth during the same period.
Year-on-Year consumer price inflation stands at 5.41 percent
Year-on-year (y-o-y) consumer price inflation stood at 5.41 percent in mid-January 2025, compared to 5.26 percent a year ago, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) report titled Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal.
The report is based on six months of data ending mid-January 2024/25.
Food and beverage inflation stood at 7.67 percent, while non-food and service inflation was 4.19 percent during the review month.
