Three Nepalis dead, 24 injured as bus catches fire after collision in Uttar Pradesh

KATHMANDU: Three Nepali nationals have died, and 24 others were injured after a bus carrying Nepali passengers met with an accident in India’s Uttar Pradesh state.

The bus, which had departed from Sunauli and was headed toward New Delhi, collided with a truck in Balrampur district. The truck was reportedly transporting warm clothes to Assam.

Following the collision, the bus came into contact with a high-tension electricity line, triggering a massive fire. Both vehicles caught fire, and the bus was completely reduced to ashes, according to India Today.

Eyewitnesses said some passengers managed to escape by breaking the bus windows.

Rescue teams and police reached the site immediately. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where the condition of six passengers is reported to be critical.
