Nepal Medical Association warns of rising influenza risk as cold season begins

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has urged the public to remain cautious as the cold season begins, warning of an increased risk of influenza virus infections.

In an appeal issued on Monday, the NMA particularly advised children, the elderly, and individuals with weak immunity to get the flu vaccine on time.

“With the onset of colder weather across the country, respiratory problems are being reported, and influenza virus infections have started appearing in several areas,” the statement said.

The association also called on the government to ensure that at-risk populations are included in vaccination programs and that free flu vaccines are made available annually in a timely manner.
