Food imports via Birgunj reach Rs 5.89 billion in four months



BIRGUNJ: Food imports through the Birgunj checkpoint have reached Rs 5.89 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year, an increase of Rs 1.24 billion compared to the same period last year.

Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief of the Birgunj Customs Office, said that maize worth Rs 2.29 billion and paddy worth Rs 2.1 billion were imported during the period.

He added that rice imports through the checkpoint amounted to Rs 1.6 billion.
