Spanish climber rescued from Makalu Base Camp



KIMATHANKA: A Spanish national stranded at Makalu Base Camp in Makalu Rural Municipality-2 has been rescued by helicopter this morning.

The climber, Jesus Martinez Novas, was stuck at an altitude of 5,700 meters for six days due to adverse weather and snowfall. Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, confirmed the rescue.

Novas has been airlifted to Khumbug Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-4 in Solukhumbu district. Authorities reported that around 70 foreign tourists and 60 domestic tourists were trapped at Makalu Base Camp during the severe weather.
