KATHMANDU: Dashain holds a special place for all Nepalis, marked by family gatherings, blessings from elders with tika and jamara, feasting, and traditional swings.
Among them, lingey ping (bamboo swing) and rote ping (wooden circular swing) are popular attractions during the festival, bringing joy and entertainment to communities. While lingey ping is made of bamboo and ropes, rote ping is constructed with wooden structures.
As these swings are set up only during Dashain and Tihar, people, especially in villages, flock to enjoy them. There is also a cultural belief that one must swing at least once during Dashain.
Locals in Sirandanda of Ajirkot, Gorkha, were seen enjoying the rote ping as part of this year’s Dashain celebration.
