Acting PM Singh, World Bank VP discuss urban development projects



KATHMAND: Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh held talks with Johannes Zutt, Vice President of the World Bank for South Asia, at the Ministry of Urban Development on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the ministry and the World Bank in upcoming projects. Discussions centered on the Greater Lumbini Area Development Project, urban infrastructure development in Kathmandu, solid waste management, and river cleanliness.

During the talks, Zutt welcomed the ministry’s focus on Lumbini and Kathmandu Valley, noting that the World Bank is positive about extending support in these areas. He assured that the Bank is committed to assisting Nepal in urban infrastructure, reducing environmental pollution, and improving river and air quality in Kathmandu Valley.

Singh expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s ongoing cooperation with ministry-led projects and said Nepal looks forward to deeper collaboration in new initiatives. Both sides voiced confidence that the meeting would further strengthen the partnership between the Government of Nepal and the World Bank.
